2015: Greetings from CES, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA
The CES venue was arranged 6-9 Jan 2015, and I was there on 7-8 Jan attending the Digital Health Summit track. The picture above is from the speech of Adam Jackson, CEO of DoctorOnDemand. One of the other co-founders is Jay McGraw, who is the son of Dr. Phil McGraw, the TV Host. They have a similar business model as MeeDoc in Finland. Even though initial business models might be similar for startups, during the time passing, the outcome can be something totally different.
Some of the huge themes this year were the Wearable Sensor Electronics and Trackers/Apps (picture above) and 3D Printing. These areas were really big with a few hundred stands/booths on each of them.
I thought that 3D Printing could not go any further. Then at CES I see a 3D printed hammer (picture above), and when taking it into my hand I realize the hammer head being much denser material than the handle. I am sure that health area will also benefit from the developments of the 3D printing. One of the award winners was an affordable home 3D Printer (picture below).
CES had a total of 170,000 visitors, and the hotels were full and pricey. However, it was not too crowded in the exhibition halls. The CEA association did a good job.
