When it comes to happiness or sadness in your life the emotional intelligence matter a lot. These capacities are helping you to achieve career and personal goals, build strong relationships, and do well at your job.
The emotional intelligence (EQ) is ability to recognize, understand, use and control emotions, manage stress, overcome difficulties, cooperate and emphasize with others and avoid conflicts. EQ is affecting different spheres of life and yourself in general. If your EQ is developed enough you can identify and estimate yours and others emotions it will help you to be more integrated with a society.
There are three components which will lead your emotional capacities to the right direction:
self-awareness – ability to recognize own emotions, aware how they influence on you, know your weakness and strengths, feel self-confident
social awareness – understanding and realizing the emotions, needs of others, feel comfortable included in a society
self-management – capacity to manage spontaneous feelings, thoughts, control impulsiveness, handle your emotions
relationship management – experience and skills about creating the relationships with other through an emotional level, teambuilding, impacting on others, managing conflicts.
So if you are able to name the emotion you feel and understand how it affects you or others, that’s really big step to your internal balance. But after recognizing the emotion, you will need to accept it, just to realize that all that we are able to feel is normal processes and there is no reason to push yourself act differently. The better choice is to learn how to manage these feelings in a way that you can understand yourself and social environment.
The improvement of emotional intelligence
In order to raise your emotional intelligence, you will need to take some steps which will lead you to new understanding of the problems. In other words, that a specific skills you can obtain during your life.
The first one applies to stress management as ability to calm down yourself and cope with stress will help you to stay in control, keep internal balance and focus on what matters.
Another step you should do is directed to your emotions in meaning that you have to establish good relationships and connection between you and your emotions, so you will be aware of them and can deal with them.
Emotions can be realized not only through verbal signals or sounds; there is body language that could reveal your feelings and that could be different from what you are saying and how you talk. According to this, we can be sure that nonverbal language should be improved as well if you want to send positive messages by it. What can help you also is your mood managing by humor, playing, laughing, because those things are natural antibodies to difficulties.
Learn how to resolve conflicts in positive and constructive way, that won’t hurt you and others. For practicing this, you will probably need to learn more about non-violent communication and behavior.
