Diet for the myocardial infarction patients
Features of the diet for patients with myocardial infarction caused by three periods of illness: acute (2-10 days), medium (2-8 weeks) and after infarct. The second type of diet is assigned for the 2-3th week after infarction with eating 5 times per day. The products are the same as in the diet type 1. Food should be cooked without salt, but not pureed.
3 type of diet is prescribed in the period of scarring (from the 4th week), a meal up to 5 times a day. It consists of 2,500 calories per day. Liquids can be drunk up to 1 liter. Limit of salt intake to 3-5 g per day.
Diet is enriched with potassium salts that provide the contractile function of the myocardium and outputs fluid from the body. Potassium can be found in dried vegetables, fruits and berries (dried apricots, dried apricots, raisins, dates, prunes, etc.).
