There is no specific diet according to myocardial infarction localization. Overall, all patients with cardiovascular diseases are recommended to maintain the Mediterranean or the DASH-diet. It is essential to reduce sodium intake to 1,5-2 g/day (pay attention to the amount of sodium in all the products you eat during the day, not only the salt you add), reduce water consumption to 1-1,5 l/day (take into account all the fluid) if there are any signs of heart failure, eat plenty of vegetables and fresh fruits, decrease red meat consumption, prefer lean chicken, meat and fish, choose dairy products low in fat and whole-grain bread, pasta and cereals. Decrease the consumption of sweets, candies, and cakes, avoid sweetened beverages.
Make sure not only to maintain a healthy diet but also stick to the treatment plan and take regularly of the prescribed medicines.
