How to Store Food in the Fridge: 6 Important Tips
August 8, 1899 inventor from Minnesota Albert Marshall patented a refrigerator. This invention forever changed the approach to the storage of products, and today, no kitchen is complete without a refrigerator. Many perceive the refrigerator only as a source of cold, where we can store products how we want, but it's not totally correct.
Incorrect storage of products lead deteriorating, hardening, food become weather-beaten and has unpleasant smell, and indue to excessive load air circulation is disrupted in the refrigerator. One of the most important principles of food storage in the fridge is their proper placement on different levels, each of which has its own temperature control. 2. Fridge's door
Do not forget that the warmest place in the refrigerator is its door. Perishable products, milk, cheeses should not be stored there. An exception may be a special compartment or container for the butter, if it has additional protection from the heat.
3. Prepared dishes
Ready meals are best kept in special containers for food storage or enamel pot with a tight fitting lid. If you don't have food containers, it is desirable to pack finished products in plastic wrap or foil. Tight packaging of products not only extend their life and does not allow odors to mix, but products do not lose their flavor and appearance.
4. Separated storage
Products and dishes of different types should be stored separately from each other. Raw meat and fish should be stored separately from finished products, since they can be a source of infection to other roducts. Fruits and vegetables should be also kept in separate containers because they can accelerate the decay of each other.
Always keep your fridge clean. All products must be packed tightly and neatly. Cheeses and sausages are best kept in special paper bags, which allow the products to "breathe". It is recommended not less frequently than once every two months to remove all food from the refrigerator and wash up each shelf carefully.
Do not store all possible preservations in the fridge. Besides the fact that it often takes a lot of space , a large number of cans may have a negative effect on other products, since the loaded refrigerator has disrupted air circulation and this disturbes the general temperature conditions.
