33 Foods That Relieve Rheumatoid Arthritis Backed by a Study

A review of existing research, published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, completed a list of foods that have been proven to relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis for a long time.foods for rheumatoid arthritis

The authors of the study Dr. Bhawna Gupta with Shweta Khanna and Kumar Sagar Jaiswal at KIIT’s Disease Biology Labs in the School of Biotechnology grouped the foods under 8 categories:

  1. Fruits: prunes, grapefruits, grapes, blueberries, bananas, pomegranate, mango, peaches, apples.
  2. Cereals: whole oatmeal, whole-wheat bread, whole flattened rice.
  3. Legumes: black soybean, black gram.
  4. Whole grains: wheat, rice, oats, corn, rye, millets, sorghum, canary seed, barley.
  5. Spices: turmeric, ginger.
  6. Herbs: sallaki, ashwagandha.
  7. Oils: olive oil, fish oil, borage seed oil.
  8. Miscellaneous: yogurt (curd), green tea, basil (tulsi) tea.

Dr. Bhawna Gupta says: “Patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis should switch from omnivorous diets, drinking alcohol, and smoking [adhering to] Mediterranean, vegan, elemental, or elimination diets, as advised by their doctor or dietician.”
