The newest research, published in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, suggests that including more nuts into a diet may help keep away the extra weight, even though nuts are calorically rich.Eating More Nuts May Help Keep Away the Extra Weight

For their study, a team of scientists from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health analyzed data on weight, diet, and exercise patterns in three different groups of people. The analysis showed that the consistent increase of nut consumption by half a daily serving was associated with a 23% lower risk of gaining 5 or more kilograms.

Researchers conclude in their paper: “Incorporating nuts as part of a healthy dietary pattern by replacing less healthful foods may help mitigate the gradual weight gain common during adulthood and beneficially contribute to the prevention of obesity.”
