To investigate the effect of music, a team of researchers used two pain models, the carrageenan model (mimics inflammation-related pain) and the plantar incision (mimics surgical pain), on two groups of mice.

The first group, experimental, was exposed to Mozart music for 3 weeks, while the control group was exposed to ambient noise.

The results of the analysis showed that in the group that received pain-relieving therapy with ibuprofen and was exposed to music, pain responses in the carrageenan model decreased by 93% compared to the mice that received the same treatment but without listening to music.
