Plant-based Diet Supports Healthy Aging

A new review, published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, suggests that a plant-based diet promotes healthy aging and can lower the risk of cardiometabolic diseases.Plant-based Diet Supports Healthy Aging

The review includes clinical trials, performed under controlled conditions, and epidemiological studies, which followed people over time under normal conditions.

Having performed the analysis of the given studies, the researchers found evidence that a plant-based diet may cut the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and coronary heart disease, promoting healthy aging.

First author Dr. Hana Kahleova, M.D., Ph.D., director of clinical research for the PCRM, says: “[S]imple diet changes can go a long way in helping populations lead longer, healthier lives.”
