Sexist Men Are More Likely to Have Psychological Issues

A research, published in the American Psychological Association, says that sexist men who value having power over women and endorse playboy behaviour are more likely to suffer from psychological problems and less likely to seek professional treatment.sexist men

For their study, the scientists conducted a meta-analysis of 78 research samples including 19,453 participants that focused on the relationship between mental health and conformity to 11 norms generally considered by experts as reflecting traditional masculinity (for example, desire to win, violence, primacy over women, dominance, etc.).

Lead author of the study Y. Joel Wong, PhD, of Indiana University Bloomington, says: “In general, individuals who conformed strongly to masculine norms tended to have poorer mental health and less favourable attitudes toward seeking psychological help, although the results differed depending on specific types of masculine norms.”
