So-Called Super Sleepers Might Be Sleep Deprived
Co-author of the study Paula Williams, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Utah, informs that the results of the study demonstrate that lives of such people can be affected by the shortage of sleep even if they still report feeling fine.
For the research, the scientists have scanned the brains of 839 people while they were awake. These people were divided into groups with different sleep schedules.
After the completion of the survey, it turned out that many of the people who slept 6 hours or less per night showed brain patterns that are usually seen when a person is asleep. This may mean that some of “super sleepers” might have actually drifted off for a bit while their brains were scanned.
