Why You Should Eat Grapefruits Regularly

It is well-known that citrus fruits have many nutritional benefits and it’s always a great idea to include them into your diet (unless your doctor forbade you). One of them is grapefruit that has a refreshing and slightly bitter taste and can become a great addition to your breakfast. So what are the nutritional benefits of this fruit?

When you eat a medium-sized grapefruit, about 250 grams, you receive:

  • Vitamin C (more than 76 mg), which has anti-inflammatory properties and may lower the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.
  • Vitamin A (180 mcg), which is important for maintaining normal vision and supports your immunity and reproductive system.
  • Potassium (more than 300 mg), an electrolyte that helps ensure proper kidney and heart function, muscle contraction, and nerve transmission.
  • Fiber (4 g), the daily norm for adults is 25 grams.
  • Lots of antioxidants and phytochemicals, which reduce inflammation in the body.
