A team of scientists from the University of Colorado Boulder finds that a week of camping can help reset your body clock responsible for the sleeping habits. Body clock uses natural light to say when we have to go to bed or to wake up. But nowadays artificial light and smartphones affect strongly our sleeping regimes.
For their study, scientists organized a series of camping expeditions for a small group of volunteers. In these expeditions, all artificial lights were under the ban. After staying far from artificial lights, melatonin level of the volunteers started to rise 2,5 hours earlier, and as a conclusion, they went to bed earlier.
According to Dr. Kenneth Wright, having sleeping habits that do not correspond to our internal clock might lead to health damage like mood disorders, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
