According to a recent study, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, drinking more than three cups of coffee every day may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries). The study was performed by a team from the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
For the study, the researchers analyzed the data of 4,426 adults whose average age was 50 years. The scientists used a food frequency questionnaire to find out how much coffee per day they consumed.
The analysis showed that the adults who consumed at least three cups of coffee a day were less likely to show coronary calcification on the CT scans than those who consumed fewer than one or one to three cups a day.
