A Compound in Grapes May Protect from Colon Cancer

A compound in grapes might be able to suppress colon cancer stem cells, according to a study executed by the team of researchers led by Jairam K. P. Vanamala, an associate professor of food science at the College of Agricultural Sciences at Pennsylvania State University in State College.compound in grapes against colon cancer

In the course of the study, the scientists discovered that a number of tumors in the mice that had the grape compound diet lowered by 50%.

Professor Vanamala says: “The combination of resveratrol and grape seed extract is very effective at killing colon cancer cells. And the combination of these compounds is not toxic to healthy cells.”
