Android and iPhone Users Might Have Different Personalities

A new research that was a collaborative effort between the University of Lincoln, Lancaster University, and the University of Hertfordshire (all in the UK) suggests that Android and iPhone users may have different personalities.different personalities

The study included 500 participants who were asked to answer a set of questions about themselves and their attitude to their smartphone.

The results of the study showed that iPhone users were more than twice as likely to be women. iPhone users were more concerned their smartphones as a status object than their counterparts using Android. Android users were more likely to be male, older, and less interested in wealth and social status. Among key personality differences to iPhone differences, Android users displayed more honesty and agreeability.

Heather Shaw, co-lead author of the study, says: “It is becoming more and more apparent that smartphones are becoming a mini digital version of the user, and many of us don’t like it when other people attempt to use our phones because it can reveal so much about us.”

Brain Implants Help Paralyzed Monkeys Regain Control of Their Legs

A newly developed brain implants could help people with paraplegia regain control of their legs according to a recent study with paralyzed monkeys.brain implants

Researchers from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, managed to restore movement in the legs of two paralyzed rhesus macaques within 2 weeks after they were injured. One of the primates regained mobility after only 6 days.

Grégoir Courtine, a lead researchers and a professor of neural engineering at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, says: “What’s key here is that we stimulate to induce the desired movement of the animal. Over the past decade, we’ve spent a lot of energy understanding how the spinal cord can be stimulated.”
